International Caucus Structure & Committees
___________________________________________________

The International Caucus of the Women’s Caucus for Art and its membership of women artists and academics, develops collaborative projects with other global organizations and entities around activist themes, uses WCA’s NGO status to bring attention to UN priorities and honors activist artists. The International Caucus has been the administrative entity for WCA's NGO status by completing the annual NGO renewal application to the United Nations, selecting the UN representatives from WCA membership and overseeing WCA's presence at UN events and conferences. 



CHAIR, INTERNATIONAL CAUCUS

The Chair of the International Caucus is a three year position.  Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Recruiting, welcoming and providing training materials (on website) for new caucus members.
  • Keeping caucus members informed of activities and events
  • Overseeing International Caucus website and its updates
  • Establishing annual goals for the caucus to be approved by caucus members
  • Creating the annual budget as part of the report to the National WCA Board's Annual Meeting each July.
  • Identifying and overseeing fundraising efforts.
  • Reviewing proposals that have been approved by the caucus and submitting them to the National WCA Board for consideration
  • Creating/approving all International Caucus project budgets before presentation to the National WCA Board
  • Submitting final budget reconciliation on all caucus projects to t he National WCA Board
  • Advising and supporting the UN Program Committee, which 1) increases awareness of WCA within the UN communities, 2) creates partnerships with NGOs in the Untied Nations,  3) creates opportunities/exhibitions/events for WCA members within the United Nations, 4) files for annual accreditation with the UN DPI/NGO, 5 ) educates WCA members on WCA's role within UN DPI/NGO and about UN goals and priorities.  Works with UN Program Director to select annual UN Grounds Pass holders and additional attendees to any UN Conferences. 
  • Ensuring that caucus members track art and activism activities engaged by the caucus, chapters and the National WCA by their updating  of the Art & Activism Database (used for our annual UN NGO renewal application and for grant applications) and choosing strong examples to highlight on our International Caucus Honor Roll page.
  • Oversees and/or directs international projects.

UNITED NATIONS PROGRAM
 This committee includes our WCA UN representatives (the WCA President,  the United Nations Program Chair and two positions that rotate annually) as well as others who wish to become involved with UN projects and events such as the annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) conferences, UNICEF, UN regional offices, the efforts towards a 5th World Conference on Women and UN DPI/NGO Conferences. Work may include attending conferences, developing exhibitions and events ideas, developing contacts with other NGOs. This is a service program in which we develop art platforms to bring attention to the UN and CSW goals.

Responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the UN Program
  • Recruiting, welcoming and training new UN Grounds Pass holders and UN Program members
  • Developing UN-related events, writing proposal, creating budgets and working with the International Caucus Chair to submit these proposal to the National WCA Board for approval
  • Representing WCA as a whole whenever on UN grounds and/or at UN events
  • Overseeing the WCA Art & Activism Database
  • Completing the annual NGO renewal application
  • Sharing applicable UN news with the UN Program members, the International Caucus Chair and on WCA social media sites
  • Updating UN pages on the International Caucus website as necessary.


EXHIBITIONS AND PROJECTS
This committee determines the feasibility of developing exhibitions and project ideas, creates committees for specific exhibitions and projects, writes the exhibition/project proposals for consideration by the full International Caucus and, if approved, by the National WCA board. 
Full committees with Exhibition/Project Directors and a leadership team will be established for all major exhibitions and projects. See individual web pages under Exhibitions/Project Home.

FUNDRAISING & FINANCE
The special interest caucuses, such as the International Caucus,  are responsible for funding their own projects. This committee and the  committee of individual International Caucus exhibitions and projects will research and develop fundraising training and funding opportunities: grants, sponsors, donations, auctions for the caucus as a whole. This committee will also create financial reports for the National WCA Board and for the caucus. These reports are currently housed on this website in the password protected administrative pages and are updated quarterly with the National WCA's Operations Director. All International Caucus bills and receipts are administered through National WCA, in which the International Caucus has account.

PROMOTIONS/SOCIAL MEDIA/PUBLICITY
Responsibilities include:
  •  Posting WCA International Caucus news and applicable UN news to WCA Facebook, Twitter and onto the International Caucus website
  •  Scanning WCA Facebook posts, WCA online newsletter and emails about exhibitions to capture information about WCA Art & Activism projects to support our annual application for UN NGO status and adding applicable projects to the Art & Activism Database.
  •  Promoting our work through press releases
  •  Assisting in posting Calls for Art for our  International Caucus Exhibitions.
