Exhibition Committees

Exhibition – Executive Committee
This committee is responsible for developing the exhibition theme and structure, writing the initial budget and proposal for the WCA Board, managing the budget, finances (writing and managing grants and other fundraising, documenting and paying bills, handling catalog and art sales), writing and managing contracts, choosing juror(s), and includes the International Caucus Chair and the Chairs of the other exhibition committees. After an exhibition is approved by the WCA Board, the executive committee will oversee the project committees.
Exhibition - Venues
Researches, makes connections, develops parallel exhibition committee in other country if international.
Exhibition – Catalog
Gathers catalog information (artists info, essays, photos, etc.), sets up catalog template with Word and transfers to lulu.com, inserts text & photos in lulu.com catalog template, proofreads and edits catalog, arranges to have copies of the catalog at the opening and for gallery sales.
Exhibition – Communications/P.R. /Marketing
This committee writes and sends out press releases to periodicals, media outlets, and blogs – coordinating this with the International Caucus Social Media committee. It will send out the calls for art to the appropriate outlets, handle communication with exhibition artists (letters of acceptance, rejection letters, collecting artist contracts), develop and send out postcards if used, and put together the artist bio book. It will work with Exhibition Events Committee to promote events during the exhibition.
Exhibition - Gallery
This committee develops a relationship with the gallery/museum. It arranges for acceptance of art into the gallery, manages the return of the artwork to artists, manages (either does it themselves or hires assistance if in the budget) installation & de-installation of artwork, schedules gallery attendants, creates shoes labels and signage and works with the Exhibition Event committee to develop and oversee the exhibition opening/reception.
Exhibition – Events
This committee develops and manages events during the exhibitions. It works with the Exhibitions Gallery committee to develop and oversee the exhibition opening/reception. It also looks at other ways to bring traffic into the gallery, such as artist talks, performance art, and workshops and then manages these events. It works with the Exhibition Communications/P.R./Marketing Committee to promote these events.
Exhibitions - Shipping
This committee researches shipping options, if international, gets shipping quotes, handles shipping logistics.
Exhibitions - Fundraising
This committee looks at all possible forms of funding for the exhibition -grants, sponsors, donors, online campaigns. These efforts must be coordinated with the WCA Executive Committee if consideration is being given to large corporations and grants. They write necessary documentations and applications, contact funding entities, develop sponsorship packages, handle follow up communications and thank yous.
